How to use the hours from now calculator
- Keep Calculation Type on “Add time from now” and Unit on “Hours”. These are already selected when the page opens.
- Type the number of hours. Decimals work: 1.5 is 1 hour 30 minutes, and 0.25 is 15 minutes.
- Select Calculate Time. The result shows the weekday, date and time.
For common values, use the quick buttons (2, 6, 7, 8, 9, 16, 17, 19, 24, 48 and 72 hours from now). To start from a different time, choose “Add time from custom date” and pick a start date and time. To go backwards, choose “Subtract time from now”.
How to calculate hours from now by hand
Add the hours to the current clock time. Every time the total passes midnight, move to the next day. For large numbers, split the hours into whole days and leftover hours first:
- Days to add = whole number of (hours ÷ 24)
- Hours to add to the clock = the remainder
Example: 100 hours = 4 days and 4 hours (4 × 24 = 96, remainder 4). From Monday at 9:00 AM, that is Friday at 1:00 PM.
Examples across midnight and multiple days
| Start | Hours added | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Friday, 10:30 PM | 5 | Saturday, 3:30 AM |
| 6:20 PM | 7.75 (7 h 45 min) | 2:05 AM the next day |
| December 31, 11:45 PM | 1.5 | January 1, 1:15 AM |
| Monday, 3:15 PM | 48 | Wednesday, 3:15 PM |
| Sunday, 8:00 AM | 72 | Wednesday, 8:00 AM |
| Monday, 9:00 AM | 100 | Friday, 1:00 PM |

When people need an hours from now calculation
- Deadlines: “reply within 48 hours” or “the offer ends in 72 hours”.
- Shifts: an 8-hour shift starting at 6:45 AM ends at 2:45 PM, before breaks.
- Reminders: the next dose or check-in “every 6 hours”. Always follow the timing your doctor or pharmacist gives you.
- Travel and deliveries: arrival times, layovers and delivery or return windows.
Time zones and daylight saving time
The calculator uses your device’s time zone, so the result is in your local time. If you are planning for someone in another time zone, convert the result to their local time.
When the time span crosses a daylight saving change, the calculator adds clock hours. For example, 24 hours from 12:00 PM on the Saturday before the clocks change shows 12:00 PM on Sunday, even though the actual elapsed time to that moment is 23 or 25 hours. If you need an exact elapsed-time answer across that night, adjust the result by one hour.
Frequently asked questions
What time will it be 24 hours from now?
The same clock time tomorrow. 48 hours from now is the same time in two days, and 72 hours is the same time in three days. If a daylight saving change falls in between, see the note above.
How do I add hours and minutes together, like 2 hours 45 minutes?
Convert the minutes to part of an hour by dividing by 60, then enter the total as a decimal: 2 hours 45 minutes = 2.75 hours. You can also switch the unit to Minutes and enter 165.
How many days is 72 hours?
Exactly 3 days. Divide any number of hours by 24 to get days: 36 hours is 1.5 days, and 100 hours is 4 days and 4 hours.
Can I start from a time other than now?
Yes. Choose “Add time from custom date”, pick the start date and time, enter the hours and calculate.
How do I find what time it was a number of hours ago?
Choose “Subtract time from now”, enter the hours and calculate.
Is the calculator free?
Yes. It is free to use and needs no account.
